Day Two: Graphic Notation

Today we viewed the upcoming
Factory Installed show in it's preliminary stages. We were given a behind the scenes perspective on invisioning, preparing, and creating an installation. We spent some time talking to Deborah Aschheim, and we helped her to create some neural structures. She spoke to us about her work, her fascination with the brain, and her experience in the art world. We then went upstairs to talk to Jesse Bercowetz and Matt Bua about their installation dealing with conspiracy. They talked about the Philadelphia Experiment, Tesla, and September 11th.
After returning to the education studio, we began our first lesson of the class...Graphic Notation. This system was developed by John Cage as a way to represent sound and music that simply could not be faithfully recorded by standard notation.
